About us
Play More Games is a games directory of icebreakers and games you can play with children and young people. You can search for specific games or look for games to fit your situation. And if you know any games that aren't listed here, add them or suggest variations
Who put it together?
It was created by Oliver Benson, a volunteer youth leader and someone who trains other youth leaders. He built it after discovering there wasn't an online games directory that took advantage of an interactive database, allowing people to search and amend entries in real time.
Why a website about games?
Because I keep telling people to play more games. But I've discovered that people often only know about a dozen games. This site is designed to kickstart some different and new games. The great thing about games is you don't have to copy the rules exactly... if you find a different way of playing a game then add it to the hints, tips and variations.
How is it funded?
Erm... Olly's hard-earned cash.
Can I get it in book form?
No, but St John Ambulance has a fabulous Games and Icebreakers book which I'd recommend. (Disclosure: I helped write it, but I don't get any money from it).
Can I use the games listed?
Can you copyright games? I'm not sure, but I'd like to think that you couldn't. Therefore the games are free for you to use. If you want credit us that's great - but the best way to make us feel wanted it go and tell the world about us.
Can I link to this site?
Are you foolish? Of course you can. We want as many people using this site as possible.
Where did the games come from?
Most of the games on this site come from the site users - who submit them. An initial set of games were added from an anonymous collection I found and I'd like to thank whoever put that PDF together... I hope in the spirit of this site they are happy that I have used them.
I'd really like to make the database part of my website?
I'm happy to talk integration. And also if you want to do other clever Web2.0 things with the database I'm willing to help; but I'm not a complete geek so please go easy on me.
Can you help me with a pub argument. Is it tig or tag?
It's whatever you called it at your school. That's why all the games have variation spellings. Decisions about which is the default name is mine.
I'm a producer at Channel 4, and we're making a programme called 100 Greatest Playground Games. Can we interview you?
Speak to my agent. No, seriously, I'm a media tart so I'll be there quicker than you can say Hopscotch.
I really like the fonts you've used. What are they please?
The lower case lettering (eg the banner logo) is onepunchJim. The upper-case lettering (eg the left-hand navigation and other bits) are Agent Orange. The other fonts you see will depend on what you have installed on your computer.
Who owns the copyright for the site?
The concept, coding and graphics are copyright Oliver Benson.
